THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...THEME: REMEMBER YOUR FIRST LOVE

THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...
DATE: Thursday, October 5th, 2017.
TEXT: Revelations 2:1-5

THEME: REMEMBER YOUR FIRST LOVE
MEMORISE: Nevertheless I have something against thee, because thou has left your first love. (Revelation 2:4)

MESSAGE:

It is natural to grow tried or become complacent while waiting for something. It is also very common place to get used to or familiar with something overtime after a long association with that thing. While this may be true and common place with physical things, we must guard against this when it comes to our spiritual lives and walk with God. We must never get too familiar with His word or presence to the extent that we start to take Him for granted or regard Him as an ordinary being like we do our fellow men.

As we progress in our Christian walk, the tendency for most is to become relaxed. We become used to hearing the great testimonies of deliverance and demonstration of His awesome power. The healing of HIV, cancer, stroke, deaf and dumb, blindness, barrenness, and deliverance from danger no longer evoke any response from us because they have become common place. This is very dangerous and is the beginning of backsliding if care is not taken.

Another danger is that it is possible to be in this state without you realizing it unless you do an honest self-examination. In our reading today, it was Jesus who pointed out that the church has fallen from its former glory and forgotten its first love. The church in question was still under the illusion that it was in right standing with God. Are you in the same position today? Have you become so familiar with power and word of God that nothing really excites you anymore? Have you lost your zeal and passion for God and too familiar with our pastor? It's time to retrace your steps and get back to your first love so that He will meet you spotless when He returns.

Worship/praise God and then take the following prayer points:

1. Dear Lord, restore to me the joy of my salvation and rekindle my first love for you, in Jesus' name.
2. Forgive me Lord, for any time that I have taken your word, presence or power for granted for Christ sake.
3. Dear Lord, we ask for extra grace to our Daddy G. O and Mummy in the Lord to remain relentless and strong till your coming in Jesus' name.
