THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL…DON'T LOSE YOUR PLACE
THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL…
DATE: Tuesday, October 24th, 2017.
TEXT: Acts 1:16-26
THEME: DON'T LOSE YOUR PLACE
MEMORISE: Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. (Luke 3:8)
MESSAGE:
The way some people behave you will think that they are doing God a favour by serving Him. They grudgingly give their tithes and offering and complain when pledges are called for special projects. They also find it hard to offer their services to the church and always complained about others who serve willing. They find fault in almost everything that is going on in the church. Even when they pray to God they give Him ultimatum such as if He does not answer them within a particular time frame, they will stop coming to church or stop serving Him. If they stop serving Him who is the loser? Is it God that will lose out or they that will spend eternity in hell? God does not need anybody to be God. He has the power to wipe out all creation and create a whole new universe. We are the ones that are privileged to be called sons of God. When He sent the flood to wipe out humanity He only found 8 people that were worthy of being saved.
He does not lower His standards to accommodate anybody. He wiped out the whole of Sodom and Gomorrah and spared only Lot and his household. When the Israelites rejected Jesus Christ He extended the offer of salvation to the Gentiles and made them heirs of Abraham. If you refuse to praise Him He has the power to raise stones in your place.
We must therefore be careful the way we approach God. While He is a merciful and compassionate God who enjoys our fellowship, He is not in any way needy or reliant on us. We should therefore approach His throne of grace with fear, awe and humility.
It is very wrong for you to give God an ultimatum. I am very certain that no one can approach a King or President of a nation and begin to insolently ask for something and not expect to suffer some consequences. If you can't approach a fellow human being who happens to be in authority like that why would you approach the King of Kings and the Lord Almighty like that? Retrace your steps fast before you lose your place.
Worship/praise God and then take the following prayer points:
1. Dear Lord, I am sorry for any time I may have given you an ultimatum out of desperation or offered you an unworthy sacrifice. I ask that you forgive me and promise to give you the honour that you rightly deserve in Jesus' name.
2. I pray that our G. O, Mummy in the Lord and their entire family will retain their place in heaven, in Jesus' Name.
