RUNNING THE HEAVENLY RACE (COMBINED SUNDAY SERVICE MESSAGE)
SUNDAY SERVICE MESSAGE 14/05/2017
MINISTER: PST LAZARUS MUOKA
TEXT: 1 Corinthians 9:24 - 27, Hebrews 12: 1 - 2, Luke 13:24
TOPIC: RUNNING THE HEAVENLY RACE
Every believer in this world is running a heavenly race, and no one shall remain here on earth after the rapture. Even if you are not born again, you are still going away from this sinful world into somewhere. If it is not heaven, then it will be hell fire. (Matthew 25:46)
The point is that we all shall leave this world to everlasting life or punishment. We should know that those before us have all gone either to paradise or to hell, so, no one should be deceived that we will live in this world forever (1 Corinthians 7:31)
For more insights on this message, we shall consider the following subheadings;
1. The reason, warning, and examples
Many who do not know that we are on a journey and we are heading somewhere, they are behaving as though they will live here forever. They are after possession of this world, they are not concerned with things of heaven. Unfortunately, none of these things will go with them at the end (1 Timothy 6:7, 1 Corinthians 15:19). The ignorant ones have no reason to keep the rules (1 Corinthians 9:24 - 27), they don’t even know that there are rules and therefore living their lives anyhow. We that are going to heaven, we must keep to the rules and must not allow any form of offense to discourage or make us backslide (Ezekiel 18:23 - 24). We must strive to enter because many want to go to heaven and it’s a narrow way (Luke 13:24), many shall seek to enter but they shall not be able. There shall be a lot of persecution but it is only those that endure to the end that will be saved (Matthew 10:21 - 22). No matter the trial, you must endure (Hebrews 12:1, 11: 1 - 40). We must endeavor to run this race until the end so we can receive our crown (2 Timothy 4: 6 - 8)
2. OUR EXPECTED RESPONSE AND THE DANGER
We all should be aware that we are strangers in this world and as believers, we are in a heavenly race to meet Our Redeemer and we shall part no more (John 14:1 - 3, John 12:26, 2 Timothy 4:6 - 8). By the grace of God, we shall be where He is, amen! No one should be discouraged, no matter what you are going through. Those things are temporally and the world also (1 Corinthians 7:29 - 31). Handle the things of this world with light hand, don’t let it consume you. Let us pursue the things that matter (2 Corinthians 4:17 - 18, Revelation 21:3 - 7, Mark 9:43 - 48).
