THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...THEME: WE HAVE MANY REASONS TO BE JOYFUL
THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...
DATE: Saturday, January 6 , 2018.
TEXT: Psalm 103
THEME: WE HAVE MANY REASONS TO BE JOYFUL
MEMORISE: “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits” (Psalm 103:2)
MESSAGE:
There is a local saying which when loosely translated means 'a thoughtful person will know that he should give thanks'. Many of us are guilty of the sin of ungratefulness. Most often than not, because the 'big' miracle we are waiting for has not yet arrived, we turn a blind eye to all the other things that the Lord has so mercifully and graciously given to us. We sometimes have an erroneous sense of entitlement that makes us believe that God and our fellow brethren owe us something. Let us be clear on one thing: God does not owe anybody anything else. On the contrary we owe God our very lives.
There are many mercies we take for granted and tend to think they don't mean much. For example, our health is often taken for granted till we lose it. They say health is wealth. So, anybody that is in good health is a very wealthy person whether the person realises this or not. Sometime, ago one of the wealthiest men on earth died of cancer. At the time of his death, it was purported that he was worth over $8billion (N2.9 trillion).
Yet, all his money did not buy him an extra day. He had the best medical treatment available to him, but as the medical personnel will say, 'we care, God heals'. Meanwhile here in The Lord’s Chosen, God is healing cancer and many terminal diseases everyday free of charge. Is this not a reason for joy?
What about the fact that we boldly confront danger without fear knowing that God is with us. How many people can confront armed robbers or ritual killers just by declaring the name of their church? Yet we hear of this type of testimony in their thousands all over the world where Chosen members are. How about the mighty breakthroughs in various aspects of our lives? The barren of many years are now happy mothers of children and the poor are now rich.
Indeed, we have a lot to be joyful for. We should never take the grace and mercy of God for granted because He owes us nothing. We are the ones that are indebted to Him. No matter what we give, we cannot match what He has done for us by giving us life and life eternal. So today, take time to take stock and count your blessings, especially those that money cannot buy and as you do so He will give you many more reasons to be joyful.
Worship/praise God and then take the following prayerpoints:
1. Dear Lord, grant me a grateful and joyful heart and never let me take your mercies for granted, in Jesus name.
2. I thank you for all the blessings and joy you have showered on me (name them)
3. I especially thank you for what you are doing in the lives of our G. O, Mummy in the Lord and their children, in Jesus name.
