THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...

TEXT: 1 Samuel 1:9-18

THEME: IN HIS PRESENCE THERE IS FULLNESS OF JOY

MEMORISE: “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” ( Psalm 16:11) There are serval things that cannot stand in the presence of God. For example, no unclean or unholy thing can come into His presence. 

Another thing that cannot stay in His presence is sorrow. When a child of God comes into the presence of God to unburden his heart, he cannot go back sorrowful the way he came. Remember that He does not call the seed of Jacob to seek Him in vain.

Our reading today is a good example for how being in His presence drives away our sorrow and fears. Hannah had been barren for a long time and must have resigned herself to a life without children. While her husband, Elkanah, showed her love despite her inability to bear him children, she was not so lucky when it came to her co-wife, Peninnah who constantly provoked her to tears because she was barren. The situation was so bad that Hannah left the place where all of them were celebrating the yearly feast and ran into the presence of God in the temple to cry out all her pain and frustration. 

She was so grieved in her sprit that Eli the priest thought she was drunk. When she explained her situation to him, he as an oracle of God told her to go in peace and asked that God grant her petition. It is recorded in the Bible that she 'went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad'. That is what time in God's presence can do to the weary and broken hearted. It turns sorrow to joy.

What sorrow are you going through presently that makes you feel that there is no longer hope for you and you feel discouraged? Its time to take such matters to God's presence. It can never survive His touch. No wonder the psalmist proclaimed that in His presence there is fullness of joy. Remember that He asked all that are heavy laden to bring their burdens to Him and He will give them rest.

Stop trying to solve your problems by yourself. Come into His presence and cast all your troubles and fear at His feet and receive instead joy unspeakable and the answer to your situation. Only in His presence can true joy be found. Its time to approach His presence with full assurance that He will grant you peace just like he did for Hannah and all that approach His throne of grace with faithful expectation.

Worship/praise God and then take the following prayerpoints:

1. Dear Lord, I come into your presence today with full expectation that you will fill my cup with an oil of gladness and take away all my fears.

2. Every spirit of spiritual slothfulness that keeps me away from your presence receive Holy Ghost fire, in Jesus name.

3. I pray for the grace for my G. O and Mummy in the Lord to remain in your presence always in Jesus name.
