DATE: Tuesday, January 16 , 2018.
TEXT: 2 Corinth 9:6-10
THEME: EXPERIENCE THE JOY OF GENEROSITY
MEMORISE: “I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.” ( Acts 20:35)
MESSAGE:
There is joy in serving others. When Jesus came to the world, He derived joy in obeying God and going around and doing good for humanity. He went around preaching the gospel and healing the sick and broken hearted.
There were times that He forgot to eat and His disciples had to urge Him to rest and eat. His reply was that doing the will of His Father was bread for Him. This goes to show that He found joy and fulfilment in being a blessing to others. As true disciples of Christ we should follow in His example.
When God blesses you, He does not mean it for you to enjoy the blessing alone. He expects that you in turn will be a good steward of the resources that He has bestowed on you and be a blessing unto others. When you do this, He will be encouraged to bless you more. He charged the Israelites to remember the poor amongst them.
He wants you to be your brother's keeper. While we are commanded to preach the good news to all people we should also be committed to meet not only their spiritual needs but their physical needs as well. Jesus hinted that on the last day all the help you rendered to the sick and needy will be remembered and counted as righteousness and vice versa.
The early apostles also were known to share all their possessions with one another without holding back. We too should be generous with the gifts that God gave each of us for God loves a cheerful giver.
There is also a a certain joy that accompanies giving. When you genuinely and ungrudgingly help others in their time of need, you also are rewarded with an inner joy and satisfaction that you were a blessing to someone and by so doing were an example of God's love towards that person. Remember the Bible tells us that it is more blessed to be give than to receive. Let us be committed to being generous to others so that we not only spread joy buy experience the joy of giving.
Worship/praise God and then take the following prayer points:
1. I thank you Lord for the numerous blessings that you have showered upon me and my family.
2. Give me the grace to be a cheerful giver and a blessing to others.
3. Dear Lord, may my hand never lack and may I be daily be replenished in Jesus name
4. Dear Lord, I pray that your blessings shall increase daily in the life of my G. O and Mummy in the Lord as they go around the world being a blessing to many in Jesus name
5. I decree that my G. O and Mummy in the Lord will never lack any good thing and that you will grant the desires of their hearts in Jesus name.
