THEME: REJOICE IN THE LORD ALWAYS

MEMORISE: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength. (Nehemiah 8:10b)

MESSAGE:

The bible tells us that the joy of the Lord is our strength. This means that as Christians we should continually rejoice in the Lord. No matter the circumstances you find yourself in you, have been commanded to rejoice. This is because the assurance that we have in Christ for a glorious future far outweighs any temporary discomfort or pain we might be facing presently.

Aside from this, the fact that God has promised to give us victory, it is also a cause for us to rejoice. He has promised never to forsake or leave us. He has promised that whatever we ask for in His name shall be granted as long as we are obedient to His word. When we are sad, we allow the devil to introduce evil thoughts that will lead us away from Christ.

He will make us feel discouraged and then tempt us to look for solutions outside Christ. That is why we must remain joyful and thankful always. We draw our strength in times of trouble from the assurance that we have in God that what He promised, He will surely do. He is not man that He should lie nor the son of man that He should repent. He will surely deliver on His promises if we do not faint or grow weary.

In times of trouble, we should look back and reflect on all the past benefits we have received from the Lord just like the psalmist. We can also draw inspiration from what He has done in the lives of others and thank Him for His mercy and grace towards us even when we are undeserving. When you thank God for the past blessings He will be moved to do more. But when we are sad and refuse to acknowledge His goodness because of temporary setbacks,

He will not be pleased with us. He was angry with the Israelites of old because they always forgot His mercy towards them as soon as they encountered a fresh obstacle. They were very ungrateful. Their thanks lasted as long as things were going smoothly. Once challenges appeared they will start to murmur. We should not be like them; we should praise God always and never forget His benefits. Rejoice always for we have assurance of a glorious future as long as we do not faint.

Worship/praise God and then take the following prayer points:

1.
Make a list of all the wonderful things that God has done for you in time past and thank Him for them one by one.
2. God fill me with your oil of gladness so that I will always be joyful in your presence, in Jesus' name.
3. I thank you Lord for what you are doing in the midst of the Chosen and for your grace upon my G. O and Mummy in the Lord, in Jesus' name.
