TEXT: Deuteronomy 16:17
THEME: BE A BLESSING TO OTHERS
MEMORISE: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing. (Genesis 12:2)
MESSAGE:
Many people erroneously think that you have to be rich or have extra before you can be a blessing unto others or even contribute towards church projects. Many that earn little deprive themselves of open heavens because they feel their income is too small to remove 10%. They do not know that the reason their income is not adequate for their needs is because they are under a curse and God has not blessed their efforts. The bible said that he that is faithful with little will be faithful in much while he that is dishonest in little will also be dishonest in much. Which tithe do you think is easier to pay N100 or N100 million? A person who cannot pay N100 on N1,000 income will not pay N100million on a N1billion income.
It is not the amount that you earn that matters but the spirit that operates within you. Some people have a stingy and selfish spirit which makes them to only want to be on the receiving end all the time. Some people in this category believe they are too poor to help anybody else. Help does not always have to be in the form of money. It can be in form of rendering a help, prayer or words of encouragement. Even some well to do brethren have this spirit. Their money is only for them and their immediate family. Even though God has blessed them they refuse to be a blessing unto others. This is very unfortunate.
God expects us to be a blessing unto others no matter the position you find yourself in, the old woman who fed Elijah for three years was poor. If she did not surrender her last meal to Elijah she and her son would have died after eating it themselves. The widow who donated her last two mites to the treasury trusted that God will provide for her needs and Jesus took note of her sacrifice. Brethren do not let stinginess and lack of trust rob you of your blessings. Surrender what you have and see if God is not faithful to fulfil his promise of supplying your needs.
Worship/praise God and then take the following prayer points:
1. Lord, give me the grace to be a blessing unto others so that they may experience your love through me, in Jesus' name.
2. I bind and cast out into the abyss every sprit of stinginess, selfishness, and doubt, in Jesus' name.
3. I ask for fresh empowerment upon our Daddy and Mummy in the Lord, in Jesus' name.
