TEXT: Acts 26: 18 - 20, Act 8: 5 – 8
Many people have been subjected to sorrows because of problems, and if that is your situation, I want you to know that that sorrow will be turned to joy (Revelation 21:4). That enemy that is fighting you, today God will settle that enemy
For better understanding of the message, we shall consider the following subheadings;
1. The causes of sorrow
2. 2. Our response and remedy
1. THE CAUSES OF SORROW
Remember there is no sorrow without a cause, sorrow will make you think that your life is finished and will give you suggestion to die. Sorrow is a bad thing. If you see someone in sorrow you will realize that it is evil. Let’s look at the case of this man that is in sorrow (1 Kings 19:1–4), this man because of discouragement he was asking God to take away his life. As many of you who are wishing to die because of sorrow, today God will take away that sorrow in Jesus' name. (Psalm 137:1–4). This children of God was in captivity and the enemy was mocking them and asked them to sing the Lord’s song, they couldn’t praise their God because they are in a strange land. Anytime you are sorrowful the enemy will ask you “where is your God”. (Psalm 42:3, 10). This is what the enemies are doing to these children of God. We should know that devil is the chief cause of captivity and sorrow (John 10:10a). He has come to steal, kill and destroy. I don’t know what the devil had stolen from you, after today, any of them that have stolen from you, God will steal from them and He will give you victory in Jesus.
We have been warned by the Holy Spirit that we should not give devil any chance (Ephesians 4:27). Every believer must take hid to this warning (John 5:18) because if he enters there will be trouble. Don’t ever say that the temptation is too much that is why you compromised. When he come attacking you, resist him and he will give you chance (James 4:7). Devil is the cause of broken marriage, childlessness, joblessness, and termination of employment, sicknesses, captivity and every kind of serious problem, all these things are things that constitute sorrows. I am very sure that today you will go with solution because we are serving a living God.
(Exodus 3:7) God has seen your affliction and has decided to bring you out of it (Exodus 3:8) into a land flowing with honey.
2. OUR RESPONSE AND REMEDY
We should not live a careless life as a Christian remember the case of Esau (Genesis 25:30 – 34) losing his birthright for a pottage of food and that was highest level of carelessness. No matter the situation you should not carelessly lose your salvation and the things God have given to you (Hebrews 12:16 -17). Believe God that he will surely see you through. We must not allow sin that will bring sorrow into our life (John 5:18, Ephesians 4:27, John 10:10).
We must serve God with all our heart and God will be with us and protect us (Jeremiah 29:11–14), we must be vigilant and serious so that the devil will not take over our life (1 Peter 5:8). Many that are into sorrows today are because of their past mistakes. David was blessed by God but he made a mistake and that mistake brought shame to the house of God, Asa made mistake and it cost him his life (2 Chronicle 16:9–13), we must not allow mistakes. Some of us run to physicians and doctors for our problems, if God allowed disease to us we must seek him first and serve him God with all our heart.
As you call upon the Lord today, God will deliver you from all you troubles (Matthew 15:13, Psalm 34:6). You might be facing a problem that no one can deliver you from (Revelation 5:1-5) but I want to let you know that the Lion or the tribe of Judah has prevailed and is here to set you free. Jesus came for a purpose (1 John 3:8, Matthew 11:28) and that purpose is to destroy the works of the devil in our lives. After today everything that belong to you shall be placed in your hands (Philippians 4:13, 1 Corinthians 3:21, Job 41:22). Surrender totally to Jesus Christ and He will set you free.
