THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...

TEXT: Malachi 3:8-11, Proverbs 3:9-10

THEME: THE NECESSITY OF TITHES

MESSAGE: 

“Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.” (Malachi 3:8-9)

Payment of tithes and giving of offerings are God’s injunction which unfortunately many people have wandered away from. They have ignored God’s covenant to believers to pay their tithes which is one tenth of their earnings and total emoluments. Some people are of the opinion that by paying tithes, they are helping the pastor or the church. Not at all! They are not helping the pastor. Rather, they are obeying God’s instruction to ensure that there is enough food in God’s store house which will in turn ensure God’s maximum blessings on all who comply. Have you shied away from paying your tithes? The bible tags it to be robbery. And the consequence is very grave. Not only that it opens the door to devouring spirits against your harvests, it also attracts curses upon the disobedient. Are you among those that see tithes as giving money to the pastor?

You must change your earlier perception about tithe paying. It is for your own good. God wants you to give towards His service so that He will rebuke the devourers for your sake. If you discover that you are stingy with tithe paying and giving offering or giving generally – whether to people or to the church, you need to cry unto God to give you a new heart. If you have not been paying tithes or giving to support the work of God before now, you must make up your mind to begin to do so and then prove God as He had said. Remember, God is not a man that can lie. Having said that He will bless those that pay their tithes, you can be rest assured that as you obey, all the blessings reserved for those that comply shall be your portion, in Jesus' name.

Worship/praise God and then take the following prayer points:

1. In any way that I have robbed you through non-payment of tithes and offerings, Father, forgive me, in Jesus' name.

2. Today, I take a fresh decision to begin to pay my tithes and vows and to support the work of God, in Jesus' name.

3. Any devourer, caterpillar, cankerworm, palmerworm, spirit of wastages and losses assigned against my harvests because of default in the payment of tithes and offerings, receive quit notice by fire, in Jesus' name.

4. Any power battling to siphon your blessing upon G. O and his family; the Lord rebuke you, in Jesus' name.
