THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...

THEME: WHY YOUR LIGHT MUST SHINE 

TEXT: Matthew 5:14-16
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.  

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.  

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

MEMORY VERSE:
In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. John 1:4-5 

MESSAGE:
The moment one becomes born-again, he no longer owns his life. He ceases to live the life that pleases him and begins to live a life that pleases God. A genuine Christian is totally separated from sin and wickedness because he has been transformed from darkness to light, from satan to God, from unrighteouness to righteousness.

There must be a clear distinction between a believer and unbeliever in character, conduct, disposition, dressing, desire, taste, word, reaction etc. A believer’s life is driven by the fear of God and His word.

When a believer is seen anywhere, his light will shine (his good conduct) He/she does things to please the Lord to the envy of unbelievers. This explains why the apostles of old were called Christians first at Antioch because their character reflected that of their master Jesus Christ.

As we live right anywhere we find ourselves, sinners and backsliders may be persuaded to come to Christ in repentance and holy living. But when our profession runs counter to what we claim, sinners will not be attracted to become born-again.

Sometime ago, a sister (not a Chosen) went to preach to some ladies. She dressed like the worldly people and after her message, the ladies burst out in laughter. Wondering why they were resorted to laughing instead of giving their life to Jesus, the ladies said to her “ what is the difference between us? We look alike in dressing and make up, so we are the same” the sister was ashamed and walked away.

People are watching us, so we have to be Chosen indeed in all our activities. When people see Jesus in us, they will be attracted to join us. Are you shining as a light? If people are confused about your Christianity, please do something and ask God to help you before you become a castaway.

PRAYER POINTS:
* Oh Lord, uproot every besetting sin in my life. 
* Pray for the grace to live a consistent holy Life. 

AMEND YOUR WAYS:
If you are not born again you must do something as a matter of urgency. He that commits sin is of the devil (1 John 3:8).
If you are into lying, cheating, bitterness, keeping malice, pride, manifesting anger, quarreling, unforgiveness, hatred, envy, contention, strife, gossiping, taking or giving bribe, selfishness,
kidnapping. If you are into masturbation, fornication, adultery, prostitution, abortion, lesbianism, homosexuality, you need to repent.
Are you into idolatry, do you make or use charms, rituals, bow down to images, Are you into occultism?
Do you smoke cigarette, cocaine, heroine? Are you lusting, covetous, alcohol drinking, divorcee or into worldliness?, you must stop bleaching your body, or painting your lips, eyes, fixing attachments, weave-on, earrings (Gen 35:2-4)
Are you one of those that put on nude dresses, short skirts, transparent dresses to seduce
(A seducer is not a Christian) do you wear trouser as a woman?
Repent and give your life to Jesus Christ.

LET'S PRAY:
If you want to give your life to JESUS pray this short prayer with me:
Almighty God, I come unto you in the name of Jesus. Father I confess that I am a sinner. All my sins I confess to you. I am very sorry for all my sins.
Lord I promise you that from today I will never continue in them anymore.
I believe that Jesus Christ died and rose again on the third day for my justification. Almighty God, use the blood of Jesus to wash my sins away. Lord Jesus, come into my heart, be my Lord and Personal Savior.
I surrender my life to you.
Cancel my name from the book of death and give me grace to make Heaven. AMEN!
