THEME: SIN BRINGS SERVITUDE
TEXT: Judges 13:1
1 And the children of lsrael did evil again in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.
MEMORY VERSE: And when they forgat the LORD their God, he sold them into the hand of Sisera, captain of the host of Hazor, and into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab, and they fought against them. And they cried unto the LORD, and said, We have sinned, because we have forsaken the LORD, and have served Baalim and Ashtaroth: but now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve thee. 1 Samuel 12:9-10.
MESSAGE:
Sin is disobedience to God. Everything you are expected to know in order to serve God in righteousness is written in the Bible and you also hear the preaching and interpretation of the Bible here. So if after all these, you still find yourself into one sin or the other, you have no excuse. You and you alone will bear the consequence. When Adam disobeyed (sinned against) God in Genesis 3:6, God confronted him and he began to give excuses and shift blame, that did not save him rather he was punished for his sins. In the same way, you should understand that no amount of excuse will exonerate you from the consequences of sin.
In today's text, the Israelites did evil against God and He handed them over to their enemies the philistines-and they oppressed them forty years. In the same way, some of you may be passing through one trouble or the other as a result of your sin or that of your fathers or fore-fathers. God cannot fight for you or deliver you because He allowed the enemy to afflict you because you sinned against him. The only thing that can save you is repentance. When you repent, you confess your sins and forsake them, God will show you mercy.
Furthermore, in our memory verse, the children of Israel forgot God entirely. In other words, they did not remember that they were created by a being called God. So God sold them to their enemies.
ln our text, God allowed only one enemy, Philistines to oppress them but in the memory verse, God sold them to multiple enemies (philistines , Moab and Hazor) and they mercilessly dealt with them before they remembered their God and cried to Him and in His mercy, He still delivered them. Whatever sin you are into now, cry unto God for deliverance.
Prayer Points:
Determine in your heart to stop that sin, then cry to God to help you. .
Now pray, ask God to break every bondage you are into as a result of sin.
AMEND YOUR WAYS: If you are not born again you must do something as a matter of urgency. He that commits sin is of the devil (1 John 3:8). If you are into lying, cheating, bitterness, keeping malice, pride, manifesting anger, quarreling, unforgiveness, hatred, envy, contention, strife, gossiping, taking or giving bribe, selfishness, kidnapping. If you are into masturbation, fornication, adultery, prostitution, abortion, lesbianism, homosexuality, you need to repent. Are you into idolatry, do you make or use charms, rituals, bow down to images, Are you into occultism? Do you smoke cigarette, cocaine, heroine? Are you lusting, covetous, alcohol drinking, divorcee or into worldliness?, you must stop bleaching your body, or painting your lips, eyes, fixing attachments, weave-on, earrings (Gen 35:2-4) Are you one of those that put on nude dresses, short skirts, transparent dresses to seduce (A seducer is not a Christian) do you wear trouser as a woman? Repent and give your life to Jesus Christ.
LET'S PRAY: If you want to give your life to JESUS pray this short prayer with me: Almighty God, I come unto you in the name of Jesus. Father I confess that I am a sinner. All my sins I confess to you. I am very sorry for all my sins. Lord I promise you that from today I will never continue in them anymore. I believe that Jesus Christ died and rose again on the third day for my justification. Almighty God, use the blood of Jesus to wash my sins away. Lord Jesus, come into my heart, be my Lord and Personal Savior. I surrender my life to you. Cancel my name from the book of death and give me grace to make Heaven. AMEN!
