Those before Gideon whom God had rescued from their bondage in Egypt forsook Him and served other gods prompting God to hand them over to their enemies. TEXT: Joshua 10:13, 2nd Chronicles 32:7-8 THEME: GOD DOES NOT WORK WITH NUMBERS MESSAGE:  “And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many.” (Judges 7:4) Gideon gathered all the people that were with him – numbering thousands, in order to fight the enemies of his people. His thinking could have been that having a great multitude of fighters would win them the battle. But God told him that the number of men with him was far too many and urged him to prune it down; lest he would believe that wars are won with human strength. Even at that, he never knew that some of the men were afraid to go to battle and so, would have disappointed him and the nation he was fighting for. Whatever he says, receives divine endorsement from heaven. We can confirm the above assertions based on His working and even personal relationships with His servants of old.
