THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...THEME : WHOSE SERVANT ARE YOU?

THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...
DATE: Thursday July 6th, 2017.
TEXT: Matthew 4:8-10
THEME : WHOSE SERVANT ARE YOU?
MEMORIZE: "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. ye cannot serve God and mammon. " (Matthew 6:24)

MESSAGE:

Every human being is subject to serve a master. That is the truth. As humans; we were created to serve and worship God. God ordained it that man must serve Him. Man is not a free agent. The original plan was for us to worship our Creator and Master. However, with the fall of man that plan was truncated. Many people think they are serving God while in truth they are under the bondage of another master. Even though they may be ignorant of the fact that they are serving the devil, yet, indirectly they are serving his various interests which have been cleverly disguised as harmless or normal everyday things. They inadvertently serve things like money, entertainment, luxury lifestyles, work/business, fame, self, fashion, drugs, alcohol, the opposite gender, family, power/ambition. etc. All these things can be idols if care is not taken. In fact anything that you may value above God and your relationship with Him is an idol and your master whether you believe it or not.

Ask yourself what is it that you spend most of your time and resources on or value the most? Anything that you cannot do without is your master. It is very dangerous to make anything other than God your master for He is a jealous God and a consuming fire. Both you and the object of your affection stand a good chance of being consumed if you do not make haste to repent. While God has blessed us good things, He does not expect us to transfer our affection to the gifts He has bequeathed us with We are expected to return all worship to Him and also love Him with all our heart, soul and body. If you have made anything an idol in your life, today is an opportunity to repent and reconcile to the one and only true Master, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Worship/praise God and then take the following prayer points:
1. Help me, O Lord, to love and serve you with all my heart in Jesus' name.
2. I bind every spirit of distraction and vanity in the name of Jesus.
3. O Lord God my Father, today, I enthrone you afresh as the Lord and Saviour of my life, in Jesus' name.
4. O Lord, sustain my G. O and Mummy in the Lord with your goodness and mercies in Jesus' name.
