THEME: STOP LOOKING FOR JOY IN THE WRONG PLACES
MEMORISE: “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” ( Proverbs 14:12)

MESSAGE:

The devil is a very crafty and subtle creature. He uses the illusion of joy and pleasure to enslave many and send them to a place of utter darkness and everlasting sorrow and torture. I pray this shall never be your portion in Jesus name! We must therefore be vigilant and sober at all times and remain in the presence of God so that our joy will not be turned into sorrow.

Our Bible passage for today is a good example of how the devil can deceive/lure people into seeking joy in wrong places. Samson was destined from birth to be a great man of God. His parents were told that no razor should touch His head and he was to deliver His people from the hands of their oppressors, the Philistines.

However, it seems as if Samson was more interested in pursuing pleasures than obeying God. While he was a thorn in the flesh of the Philistines, He provoked them more out of sport than in obedience to God's word. He sought pleasure in the hands of foreign women and prostitutes contrary to God's express commandments that they should not marry outside the tribes of Israel and against his parents' plea. Most of the things recorded in the Bible about Samson portrays

him as a man whose main priority was not the things of God but to seek pleasure or self-gratification. He led a reckless life and ended up marrying a Philistine woman who later betrayed him for money. And while God was gracious enough to grant him his last wish of avenging himself of his enemies, he spent his last days as a blind powerless slave toiling at the grinding mills and dying the same death like his enemies. What a pity.

This is the same fate that befalls many when they seek joy in the wrong places. To be clear, anywhere outside Christ Jesus, is the wrong place to look for true and everlasting joy. Joy cannot be found in money, fame, possessions, position of power etc. There are millions of examples of people that have all these things but are not joyful. Only one person promises us joy and that is Jesus Christ. Stop looking elsewhere.

Worship/praise God and then take the following prayerpoints:

1. I praise your holy name Lord for the true joy that you bestow on all that seek and follow you faithfully and for the assurance of everlasting life.
2. Lord, give me the grace to be heavenly focused and not truncate my glorious destiny or lose sight of the source of true joy in Jesus name
4. I pray for my G. O and Mummy in the Lord and their family that they will stand firm till the end and receive their crown of glory in Jesus name
