THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...THEME: GUARD YOUR HEART

THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...

DATE: Monday, January 15 , 2018.

TEXT: Matthew 15:16-20

THEME: GUARD YOUR HEART

MEMORISE: “A wise man's heart is at his right hand but a fool's heart at his left.” (Ecclesiastes 10:2)

MESSAGE:
The heart is the most important part of the human body. Once the heart stops beating, life ceases and it will be the end of the person's physical existence. Likewise, in spiritual terms the heart is also very important. The Bible tells us that the heart is where the issues of life flow from. Our diet affects the condition of our physical hearts. If you eat healthy nutritious whole foods your heart will be in good condition and it will serve you well.

On the other hand if you eat junk processed foods all the time, your heart will be adversely affected and may give up functioning prematurely. It has been scientifically proven that consistently eating fruits and vegetables on a daily basis can reverse heart disease without the use of medication.

Similarly, we must be careful with what we feed our spiritual hearts with. What ways do we feed our heart and soul spiritually? Its by what we see, hear, say and believe.

We must guard against pollution and contamination by ensuring that we constantly feed our hearts with a healthy diet of God's word every day. We should also be very careful about what we watch, read, and listen to. Do not spend your time listening to worldly music or watching worldly movies and expect to maintain righteousness and purity.

The message and imaging that you have allowed into your heart will subtly start to influence and guide your behaviour. You should also not surround yourself with friends or things that constantly say or promote messages that are contrary to the word of God. For example there is an ongoing debate about whether or not one should pay tithes.

The word of God is unequivocal about this. Tithing is a biblical commandment of God. Do not get involved in such debates but rather seek God's word for your guidance on the matter. Listening to such debates has the potential to deceive and confuse you.

It is therefore our duty to make sure that we feed our hearts with God's word and holy thoughts and not allow any undue influences to affect our spiritual growth and well-being. What is in our hearts is what ultimately cumulates in our outward behaviour. It is what influences our faith. If we want to successfully run our race here with the aim of finishing well and receiving a joyful welcome on judgment day, it is very important that we guard our hearts jealously.

Worship/praise God and then take the following prayerpoints:

1. I commit my body, heart and soul into thy hands. Give me the grace to diligently seek the things that make for spiritual growth in Jesus name.

2. I bind every negative influence that seeks to contaminate my heart and soul and cast them into the abyss in Jesus name.

3. Dear Lord I plead for a hedge of fire to surround my G. O and Mummy in the Lord and their children so that no harm will befall them, in Jesus name.
