THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL…

TEXT: Matthew 6:19-21

THEME: SET YOUR HEART ON THINGS ABOVE

MEMORISE: Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. (Proverbs 4:23)

MESSAGE: 

Nourishment is more of spiritual than physical. That is why spiritual nourishment is better than physical nourishment in terms of durability. The heart of man as the scripture informs us; is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, who can know it? Whatever a person determines to do, first emanates from the heart. Your actions are the results of what was first conceived from the heart. During Jesus Christ earthly ministry, many who appeared to follow Him, were not true followers as many came along for the sake of their bellies rather than for the word of life. When one is engrossed with things of this life only, the word of God has no place in such heart and that is why many find it difficult to do the will of God including those who claim to be following the Lord. That is the situation when nourishment is derived from physical and material things.

The level the unspiritual heart can go is limitless. All these earthly glory many are pursuing are useless if there is no spiritual nourishment from above. You must therefore be conscious of your thoughts. Does it tilt towards the attractions and seductions of this world? Set your mind on things above. Jesus had to address the issue of the condition of the heart. He wants you to recondition your heart towards heavenly glory. So, make an assessment of the state of your mind. Are you following just because of miracles, healing, and financial breakthroughs? Where your treasure is; there will your heart be also.

Worship/praise God and then take the following prayer points: 

1. O Lord God my Father; purge my hearts from fleshly lusts and
desires in Jesus' name.

2. Build your throne in my heart and make my heart your dwelling place, in Jesus' name.
3. Any attractions and seductions of this world targeted against my
spiritual well-being and development; be nullified in Jesus' name.
4. Uproot every distraction of the devil designed to cause our G. O and
Mummy in the Lord to become discouraged and lose the focus of
actualizing our vision and mandate, in Jesus' name.
