THEME: YOU ARE THE SALT OF THE WORLD

MEMORISE: 34 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned? 35 It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. (Luke 14:34-35)

MESSAGE:

Salt is an important ingredient when cooking. Without it the food that is being prepared will have no flavour. It will be bland and tasteless. You can do without other seasonings but you can not prepare a delicious meal without adding salt. Aside from being a seasoning, it is also used as a preservative. If you rub salt on meat even if you do not put it in the fridge or freezer it will prevent it from spoiling. It is also a cleansing agent and can be used to wash off bacteria and germs. From the foregoing we can see that salt is a very useful and import ingredient.

It is therefore not surprising that Jesus likened believers as the salt of the world. We are supposed to add impact the world just the same way salt impacts the taste of food. When we are present in a situation we are supposed to make a difference in that environment. Just as salt is a preservative so also are we to preserve souls so that they will not end up in hell fire. We are also supposed to be a cleansing agent as we turn once impure hearts back towards their creator and make such hearts pure again.

However, if you open salt and put it on the shelf for a long period of time the air in the atmosphere will contaminate it and it will no longer be potent or useful for purpose. You will have to throw it away. The same goes for Christians who fail to impact their environment. Instead they leave themselves open to compromise. Instead of them impacting their world the world contaminates them and they are no longer useful for the kingdom. Such people will be casted away from God's presence on the last day. Are you performing your role as the salt of the world or has your salt lost its flavour and is no longer useful for the Master? It is time to examine yourself before it is too late.

Worship/praise God and then take the following prayer points:

1. Lord, give me the grace to be the salt of the world and not lose my flavour in Jesus' name.
2. Everything working against my ability to be a light to my generation; receive the fire of the Holy Ghost, in Jesus' name.
3. Holy Ghost help me to be an instrument/vessel worthy of the Master's use, in Jesus' name.
4. Any power on assignment to contaminate our G. Os and Mummy in the Lords anointing; I declare you a loser, in Jesus' name.
