THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL…

TEXT: Genesis 25:29-34

THEME: BEWARE OF CARELESSNESS

MEMORISE: 16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. 17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears. (Hebrews 12:16-17)

MESSAGE: 

The most important thing to man is the salvation of his soul and the assurance of eternity in heaven. Any other thing is mere vanity. There is nothing on this earth that can compare to the glorious future that awaits us in heaven. Therefore, we should guard our salvation jealously in order not to lose it.
It is possible for one to lose his or her salvation. When we began to live carelessly and start to compromise on the word of God and allow worldly distraction to take our focus away from God and righteous living we are at risk of losing our salvation.

We must value what we have and not be like Esau who carelessly gave away his birth right for a pot of pottage. He did not value what he had. He allowed temporary hunger and emotions to becloud his sense of good judgement and threw away a prized possession. He bitterly wept for it afterwards but it was too late. It is also worthy to note that even though he had sold his birth right, he still expected to reap the benefits of what he had carelessly given away.

Likewise, many who have carelessly thrown away their salvation erroneously believe that they are still in line to inherit eternal life. Many have been deceived by the misleading teaching that once you are born again you can not lose your salvation no mater how you live your life. Nothing can be further from the truth. If you do not strive to live righteously and guard your salvation you will lose it. Do not be like Esau who carelessly threw away his birth right for temporary pleasure.

Worship/praise God and then take the following prayer points:

1. God, give me the grace to be alert at all times so I will not fall by the wayside, in Jesus' name.

2. I bind and cast out every sprit of careless living and compromise assigned against my salvation, in Jesus' name.

3. Dear Lord, help me, my family and all the Chosen ones to make heaven at last in Jesus' name.

4. I cover my G. O and Mummy in the Lord with the precious blood of Jesus and decree that you will keep them firmly rooted until your coming in Jesus' name.
