As a mark of Jubilee Celebration which comes up every July, The Lord's Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, Edo State Chapter empowered 31 of her members with cash gifts.
On Sunday, July 23rd, 2017, 31 needy brethren gathered together at the Edo State Headquarters of The Lord's Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, for one of the largest philanthropic undertaking of the Church. These persons were recognized and given cash gifts. By so doing, philanthropy, an invaluable attribute of Christ was epitomized in her.
The importance of this virtue in the Christendom cannot be overemphasized. The inauguration of the seven deacons in Acts of the Apostles has it as the live-wire. The benefits of philanthropy can be described using economic and Spiritual analogies.
Philanthropy can be seen as a kind of venture capital – not in the traditional business sense but it is an investment in the 'Bank of Heaven' with returns running in hundredfold and in the shortest possible time. Just as business profits from smart investments, so do the instigators. Philanthropic activity is an investment in one's level of preparedness to being in Heaven at the end of the world.
Philanthropy can complement the relationship one have with God as the benefactor is encouraged to continue his/her Christian walk with the assurance of caring bethren around.
Being a true parent ensures that we can provide for our needs today without going into debt and borrowing from the next generation. But if the reverse happens, tangible help from the brethren can be helpful, and that TLCCRM, Edo State Headquarters, have resolved to do.
The Church has a compassionate and generous lot. This is, among countless other secretive alms-giving, reflected in this instance.
Over two millennium ago, a great Man, in whose symbolic shadow Christians stand today, signed the Charity Proclamation: "For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in." (Matthew 25:35)
This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of needies who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their relegation on the scheme of Christian duties. It could best be summarized that she (The Lord's Chosen Edo State) is only singing a song whose stanzas were written ages ago by the Almighty.
As is with other of His admonitions, God's view on charitable deeds is hardly just obligatory; it is a mandate. Given all the expressions of feeling for humanity accounted to Him in the gospel of John chapter 3 verse 16, we, the Followers, should replicate such gesture amongst ourselves as a veritable criteria to having a fulfilled righteousness, and the subsequent entrance into the golden gates of Heaven.
It is wonderful sight to behold these beneficiaries from diverse states of origin and backgrounds, green in happiness, laughter and tears of joy. Finally, their prayers has been answered, and a new lease of life, by way of monetary empowerment and sundry additions. It's axiomatic the saying that: 'What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; but what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal.' Imagine the generations that have been touched by this singular act of benevolence.
At the outset, I'm pleased to report that we have concrete proof that philanthropy, in all its guises, is flourishing in Chosen today. The Church places great value on supporting and encouraging
individuals – the poor especially;
businesses, crafts of all shapes and sizes. The church have been passionate in their belief that with targeted interventions for the poor, her financial capacity to give will continue to grow from strength to strength.
Action taken by the Australian Government to encourage philanthropy and brotherhood came about in large part because of advice and guidlines from the Scriptures. These church recognize, as Christ did, the great importance of foregoing one's targets and objectives-- economic and otherwise-- to give something back to their neighbors.
Among the most significant projects, a purse-draining one, too, calling for an immediate attention is the construction of the ultramodern state-of-the-arts Church Complex which is today at the finishing stage, as well as the hosting of an international crusade in Benin City. Yet, the zeal for helping others made it hard to look away from the plights of the victims and more attractive for the church to donate to their favourite causes.
This show of love isn't like every other ones done in a haphazard fashion. It is holistic and multifaceted. In addition to helping destitute parishioners, passionate about improving their welfare, the Church perform other additional roles all geared towards ensuring the prosperity of her worshippers.
These humanitarian engagements may range from offering enterpreneural counseling, to offering friendship and support to newly-established businesses. They also become involved in exploring ways of working more effectively with the private sector; and where it can really make a difference.
The best philanthropy is not just about giving money but by giving Christ and the takeaways that comes with it. The best philanthropists bring the key that unlocks finance, health, security, excellence et al. It is creative not passive; it seeks to innovate not follow conventional thinking. It steps into areas human effort is too fearful or too risk adverse to go. It uses super-human technology and its power to change the world in innovative ways. It is visionary, seeing the connections, the trends, the patterns that others don’t.
I make bold to state that the church has not faltered in that regard. It has, by the grace of God, not ceased to reach out to the unsaved with the Gospel. This it have done and is still doing through endless crusades, retreats, seminars, rallies, early-morning and evening cries to mention but a few.
The church have equally stood up, in a manner signposting rare specie of selflessness, to it's position as a veritable meeting point where God-and-man dialogues with tangible miracles, deliverances, and healing. A singular visit to the Edo Church would convince you.
Philanthropy is a significant evidence of the sense of an ideal and principle of life that permeated the Christian consciousness of the earliest communities, that they should have made sacrifice an synonym to express it, and that they should derive that word, not from the current or philosophical language of Greek morality, but from the sacrificial standpoint.
Scripture tells us that Christians should consider the interest of others and help those in need. If someone asks you to pray for them, then pray. If someone begs for some water, food, or money, then give it to them. When you do these righteous things you are doing God’s will, working for God, and bringing happiness and blessings on others .
We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind Christians of the fierce urgency of giving, especially to the needy. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of love. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation and self-centeredness to the sunlit path of interracial philanthropy. Now is the time to lift our faith from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make love a reality for all of God’s children.
"How are we sure that this people really need this booster or aren't they cronies of the Pastor?" some may argue. It's, therefore, worth emphasizing that the selection process was deeply transparent and a high level of professionalism invested therein. The methodology included surveys, interviews and group discussions with experts to avoid abusing the funds. So, the question need not be a nagging one.
The marvelous new recession which has engulfed the land must not lead us to a distrust of all of scriptural interjections with brotherliness, for many of our Christian brothers/ sisters, have us as an evidence of their unending prayers, and have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.
All in all, bravo to the Edo State Headquarters of The Lord's Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries for coming up with a version of philanthropy that gives adequate attention to tangible results than one that ends with a symphony of all-too-familiar litanies of Givers-Never-Lack and one that many others only gave verbal publicity. This is, indeed, the truest specie!
