THEME: FLIRTING WITH SIN WILL LEAD YOU INTO CAPTIVITY
MEMORIZE: “But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members "Romans 7:23
MESSAGES:
In this month of Jubilee for Captives, we must be careful not to knowingly or unknowingly enter into the captivity of the devil. Flirting with sin is a sure way of entering into captivity. 'It is unfortunate that many Christians toy with sin thinking they can pull back before they get entrapped in it.
They appear to be comfortable in the company of unbelievers. Instead of preaching the gospel to them, they keep numb and sit by while they engage in all manner of ungodly conversations.
If they are not careful, it will only be a matter of time before they will be enticed to do the same things. The Bible warns us that evil communication corrupts good manners. Are you playing with sin and saying that you can handle it before it gets out of hand? Make sure you live righteously and obey the commandments of God.
Samson was a great man of God in his time: raised to be a deliverer of his people the Israelites and for a time, He was a terror to their enemies. He was so strong that no man could defeat him. But along the line, he deviated. Instead of living a righteous and holy life, he began to toy with sin. He lusted after women including harlots despite the fact that he was supposed to be consecrated unto God. He ignored the warning of his parents.
He must have thought to himself that he would handle it without getting entrapped. Eventually the enemy prevailed against him because of this carelessness.The unfortunate situation was that he was not even aware when the spirit of the Lord left him (Judges 16:20). The same thing happens to a Christian who is in a backsliding state: They are not aware that having grieved the Holy Spirit in them, the spirit will depart. In the end, Samson was taken into captivity. Though God him mercy by allowing him to avenge his enemies, he died alongside with his enemies. That is the danger of flirting with sin.
Worship/praise God and then take the following prayer points:
1. Dear Lord, give me the grace to be vigilant and watchful so I will not fall prey to the wiles of the enemy
2. Any spirit of backsliding assigned against my salvation, be arrested by the Holy Ghost, in Jesus' name.
3. By the power and authority in the name of Jesus Christ, I overcome the lust of the flesh and eyes and the pride of life, in Jesus' name.
4. Uphold our G. O and Mummy in the Lord so that they will finish this race and receive their crowns of glory.
