THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...

TEXT: Revelation 7:9-14, Zechariah 3:4

THEME: FILTHY GARMENT CAN IMPEDE PROGRESSION

MESSAGE: 

“3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. 4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment. 5 And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the Lord stood by.” (Zechariah 3:3-5)

Filthy garment is a spiritual language which represents impurity. Therefore, whoever is described as having a filthy garment is tainted with sin. That was the argument which the devil raised as he stood to resist the angel who was standing by him. The filthy garment on the body of Joshua was an impediment against him making heaven and that was what made Satan to resist him. However, God delivered him by His mercy as the angel on hand commanded the filthy garment to be removed and a clean one to be put on him. A crown of glory was also put on his head.

You might be putting on a white garment physically and people applaud you for looking great. You do not need to be carried away by such compliments. What matters is the spiritual garment you are putting on?

Are you clothed with white or filthy garments? If your garment is not white, the devil is most likely to resist you. He will resist the works of your hands from prospering; he will stand against your destiny and make you a legal captive. Filthy garment provides a legal ground for him to attack you and hold you in bondage. So, you must seek to remove the filthy garment which is the garment of sin and unrighteousness and put on a clean garment – that of righteousness. Then ask God for mercy through repentance and genuine salvation. God said He had caused the sin of Joshua to pass before Him, which means that they will be remembered no more. Your own case will not be different. Genuine repentance and resolve to serve God faithfully will also cause your sins to pass before God and be remembered no more..

Worship/praise God and then take the following prayer points:

1. Father, in the name of Jesus, I confess every known and unknown sin and ask for your mercy. Grant me forgiveness, in Jesus' name.

2. Lord, cause my iniquities to pass from before you, in Jesus' name.

3. Any filthy garment upon my body spiritually, I command it to catch fire, in Jesus' name.

4. O God, clothe me with a change of raiment, in Jesus' name.

5. Any allegation/accusation leveled by the devil against our G. O, our mummy in the Lord and their children; be nullified with the blood of Jesus Christ.
