THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...THEME: GOD RESPECTS COVENANTS

Image
THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL... DATE: WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 30TH, 2016. TEXT: Genesis 17:19, Galatians 4:28 THEME: GOD RESPECTS COVENANTS MESSAGE:
“And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken.” (Genesis 21:1) God made a covenant with Abraham in which He swore saying, “In blessing, I will bless thee.” He had already assured Abraham that through him shall all the nations of the earth be blessed. In that covenant, Abraham was assured that he would be the father of all nations. Time kept ticking. The man was getting old; same with his wife Sarah. Yet, there was no cry of a baby. But the man kept faith with God and God did it when human power had deserted him; when Sarah’s natural female cycle had ended. The bible states that the Lord visited Sarah ‘as He had said.’ God’s words are consistent. He is a covenant keeper. His words are not like the words of man. Whatever he says He will do, He is always very careful to observe and to do them. He did to Sara…

THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...THEME: YOUR REPENTANCE IS A DETERMINING FACTOR

Image
THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL... DATE: TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 29TH, 2016. TEXT: 1st Chronicles 28:9 THEME: YOUR REPENTANCE IS A DETERMINING FACTOR MESSAGE:
“14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 15 Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attend unto the prayer that is made in this place.” (2 Chronicles 7:14-15) The repentance of the people of God is vital if they are to partake of God’s package of mercy. God says that He is ready to reverse back whatever punishment He is putting His people through only if they can repent. Unarguably, He had demonstrated this act of magnanimity severally and is still ready to do it again today.
May be He has shut up the heavens against you that there is no rain of blessing or abundance or maybe He has commanded the locusts to devour your economy such that you face impoverishment or mayb…

THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...THEME: WHY DON’T YOU RUN TO GOSHEN?

Image
THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL... DATE: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 28TH, 2016. TEXT: Matthew 11:28, Isaiah 32:18-19, Exodus 10:22-23 THEME: WHY DON’T YOU RUN TO GOSHEN?
MESSAGE:
“23 And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt. 24 So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. 25 And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field. 26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail.” (Exodus 9:23-26) Goshen is an area in the northeast sector of the Nile Delta. It was occupied by the Hebrews from the time of Joseph until the Exodus. Pharaoh King of Egypt assigned Goshen to Joseph’s family when they entered Egypt. While th…

THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...THEME: THEY ARE HEADING TOWARDS THEIR OWN GALLOWS

Image
THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL... DATE: SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 27TH, 2016. TEXT: Psalm 79:11; Psalm 7:15-16, Ecclesiastes 10:8 THEME: THEY ARE HEADING TOWARDS THEIR OWN GALLOWS
MESSAGE:
“9 Then the king said, Hang him thereon. 10 So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king's wrath pacified.” (Esther 10:9-10) God is wiser than all men. Those things that we hardly imagine can happen, usually go in dark places – even against the children of God most times unknown to them. The wickedness can be as severe as someone wanting to snuff life out of you for no just cause. They can submit your name to covens, native doctor’s shrines, idols, gods, deities etc urging them to kill you. They offer them different sacrifices including blood and they happily await the news of the deaths of their victims. One thing though is that any time they try their evil against the children of God, He rises up to defend them and turn whatever evil programs upon the heads of thos…

THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...THEME: GO AND SIN NO MORE!

Image
THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL... DATE: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 26TH, 2016. TEXT: John 3:3, John 14:6, 2 Peter 2:20-21 THEME: GO AND SIN NO MORE!
MESSAGE:
“10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.” (John 8:10-11) The declaration of “Go and sin no more” as was pronounced by Jesus Christ has a multi-dimensional implication in the life of a believer. First, it is a statement which proves that every believer is justified by the blood of Jesus. Second, it is a clearance from any kind of condemnation. Third, it is a warning that believers should abstain from sinning. Sin is cancerous and grave. That was why Jesus Christ warned the woman caught in adultery to go and sin no more. He knows that with sin, she would remain a legal captive in the hand of the enemy and God whose eyes are too pure to behol…

THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...THEME : YOU ARE TOO STRONG TO BE INTIMIDATED

Image
THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL... DATE: FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 25TH, 2016. TEXT: Nehemiah 4:8 THEME : YOU ARE TOO STRONG TO BE INTIMIDATED
MESSAGE:
“4 Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. 5 Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.” (Daniel 6:4-5)
It is only the eyes of childhood that fears a painted devil. Daniel’s detractors sought for reasons why they would nail him, but they knew that they wouldn’t find any fault against him except they set trap for him concerning the worship of his God. Daniel was a young man dedicated to the service and worship of the true God. When they had succeeded in enacting the obnoxious decree thinking that Daniel would be cowed by their actions, Daniel served his God with more diligence. A forma…

THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...THEME: DOGGEDNESS IS REQUIRED

Image
THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL... DATE: THURSDAY NOVEMBER 24TH, 2016. TEXT: Ephesians 6:10-18, 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Luke 18:2-5 THEME: DOGGEDNESS IS REQUIRED
MESSAGE:
“And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint” (Luke 18:1). Nothing comes easy in life. You need to be dogged in order to overcome life’s challenges. That does not imply that life is by struggle. Not at all! It only means that you must have the knowledge and will-power to do the right thing at the right time. Definitely, doing the right thing at the right time and even at the right place will produce amazing results. The problem is therefore getting yourself to do what you are supposed to do at the time you are supposed to do it. We must understand that certain challenging situations in life require doggedness to overcome. Your miracle might be at that point when you are about to back off. If you are not dogged, you might believe that everything is over and then chicken out. The …

THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...THEME: TREASURES OF DARKNESS AND HIDDEN RICHES OF SECRET PLACES SHALL BE TRANSFERRED TO THE CHILDREN OF GOD

Image
THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL... DATE: WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 23RD, 2016. TEXT: 2 Corinthians 8:9, Deuteronomy 8:18 THEME: TREASURES OF DARKNESS AND HIDDEN RICHES OF SECRET PLACES SHALL BE TRANSFERRED TO THE CHILDREN OF GOD MESSAGE:
“And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel. 4 For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.” (Isaiah 45:3-4) God has promised to give believers in Christ the treasures of darkness and the hidden riches of secret places. What this means is that there is going to be a transfer of wealth. This promise is in line with the covenant which God made with Jacob His servant. As a spiritual Israelite, you are entitled to this good gesture of God. So, claim it by prayer. The wealth in the hands of unbelievers does not rightfully belong to them. Rathe…

THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...THEME: THE GLORY OF GOD IN YOUR LIFE IS NON-NEGOTIABLE

Image
THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...
DATE: TUESDAY NOVEMBER 22ND, 2016. TEXT: Isaiah 6:2-3, Isaiah 60:1-3 THEME: THE GLORY OF GOD IN YOUR LIFE IS NON-NEGOTIABLE MESSAGE:
“In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.” (Isaiah 6:1) The importance of the glory of God in the life of any believer cannot be over-emphasized. It was a wonderful experience for Prophet Isaiah to see the glory of God filled the temple. Unarguably, it might have been a life transforming experience.
This was also the case of Moses as he experienced the glory of God first in the burning bush. In that encounter, he saw something he never saw before. Apparently, there was fire in the bush, but it never got burnt. (Exodus 3:2) Having had a taste of God’s glory, Moses longed for it and when the opportunity came he declared, “I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.” (Exodus 33:18) By this time, he had become conversant with the gains of experiencing t…

THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL..THEME: YOU WILL ACCOUNT FOR THE GIFTS OF GOD UPON YOUR

Image
THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL... DATE: MONDAY NOVEMBER 21ST, 2016. TEXT: 1st Corinthians 12:1-11 THEME: YOU WILL ACCOUNT FOR THE GIFTS OF GOD UPON YOUR LIFE
MESSAGE:
“15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. 16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. 17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. 18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.” (Matthew 25:15-18). The gift of God upon a man is free of charge. But then, he will still have to give account what he used it for. So, it is dangerous to allow the gifts in you to lie fallow or to be unproductive. God has given them to you for specific purposes which must be realized. Like the man travelling to a far country who gave different talents to his servants, that is how God has bestowed several ta…

THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...THEME: TIME TO WAKE UP

Image
THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL... DATE: SUNDAY NOVEMBER 20TH, 2016. TEXT: Proverbs 19:15, Matthew 25:1-13, 1st Peter 4:7 THEME: TIME TO WAKE UP MESSAGE:
“9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? 10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: 11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.” (Proverbs 6:9-11) The scripture is really worried about the level of negligence going on in the lives of many supposed believers whereby they are likened to people who are asleep. Sleeping at a time when they are supposed to be awake, will ultimately condemn them to poverty and lack. A sluggard is a lazy person who sleeps at odd hours. By spending so much time sleeping, it means that the person is extending an open invitation to the spirit of poverty to come and possess him/her. An ignorant person is as good as someone that is asleep.
Arising out of sleep implies not just waking from sleep, it also inc…

THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...THEME: GOD IS READY, IF YOU ARE READY.

Image
THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL... DATE: SATURDAY NOVEMBER 19TH, 2016. TEXT: Hebrews 11:6 THEME: GOD IS READY, IF YOU ARE READY.
MESSAGE:
“9 And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.” (1 Chronicles 4:9-10) Jabez’s story was a pathetic one, but one which he overcame through great faith and implicit confidence in the power of God to turn around impossible situations. He was born with sorrow as his mother perceived and then given a name to tally with his mother’s thoughts. However, Jabez grew up and would have none of it, hence; he called upon God for a reversal of fortunes and God heard him and blessed him and enlarged his coast. Many people came into …

THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL..THEME: LEARN TO DEPEND ON GOD

Image
THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL... DATE: FRIDAY NOVEMBER 18TH, 2016. TEXT: Matthew 4:24, Hosea 11:3 THEME: LEARN TO DEPEND ON GOD
MESSAGE:
“12 And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the Lord, but to the physicians. 13 And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign.” (2 Chronicles 16:12-13)
There are some people out there who believe that certain situations are beyond the power of God. They therefore declare them as incurable or terminal. As a result, they put their trust in what they perceive as alternatives to God. One thing very clear however, is that there is no alternative to God. It is only God that has the power to heal both the sickness and the roots causes, unlike human physicians who seek to terminate sicknesses without taking out the root causes.
Therefore, it is risky leaving your life in the hands of human physicians which will not gu…

THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...THEME: BEWARE OF THE EVIL IN THE HIDDEN PLACES

Image
THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL... DATE: THURSDAY NOVEMBER 17TH, 2016. TEXT: Ezekiel 8:7-18, Ephesians 6:12, Revelation 21:8 THEME: BEWARE OF THE EVIL IN THE HIDDEN PLACES MESSAGE:
“And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here….” (Ezekiel 8:9) In this end time, evil has gone scientific. It is no longer news that people can be used for spiritual experiments to test the efficacy of charms and arrows. For example, a story has it that a man went and brought home some charms only to test whether it is potent by using it on his wife. A young man used his blood sister for rituals and hid her in a big water tank where he enters every morning before leaving for work until his secret was uncovered. That is the extent of the spiritual wickedness going on around you. One might be wondering why so much emphasis on the evil that is going on in the society in which we live. O yes; evil and wickedness are characteristics of modern day living. The fore-runners of the an…

THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...THEME: HE HAS BROKEN THE GATES OF BRASS…

Image
THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL... DATE: WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 16TH, 2016. TEXT: Isaiah 45 THEME: HE HAS BROKEN THE GATES OF BRASS… MESSAGE:
“15 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! 16 For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.” (Ps 107:15-16) Jesus’ death and subsequent resurrection has taken away all limitations and barriers which earlier held man captive. We should be happy and therefore praise the Lord for such magnanimity. Rather, what do we see? We still see the same people for whom He died rejecting Him, serving idols and generally promoting the work of the devil. What has the devil thrown at you recently? You must be able to read through the lines and understand the import of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The truth however is that Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross has brought unlimited freedom for believers. Those aware of this package usually collect what belongs to them through…

THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...THEME: THE NECESSITY OF TITHES

Image
THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL... DATE: TUESDAY NOVEMBER 15TH, 2016. TEXT: Malachi 3:8-11, Proverbs 3:9-10 THEME: THE NECESSITY OF TITHES
MESSAGE:
“Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.” (Malachi 3:8-9)
Payment of tithes and giving of offerings are God’s injunction which unfortunately many people have wandered away from. They have ignored God’s covenant to believers to pay their tithes which is one tenth of their earnings and total emoluments. Some people are of the opinion that by paying tithes, they are helping the pastor or the church. Not at all! They are not helping the pastor. Rather, they are obeying God’s instruction to ensure that there is enough food in God’s store house which will in turn ensure God’s maximum blessings on all who comply. Have you shied away from paying your tithes? The bible tags it to be robbery. And the consequence is very grave. Not only that it opens the door to devouring spirits against yo…

THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...THEME: THE DEVIL IS A DECEIVER

Image
THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL... DATE: MONDAY NOVEMBER 14TH, 2016. TEXT: John 8:44 THEME: THE DEVIL IS A DECEIVER MESSAGE:
“…. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”
(Genesis 3:1)
The devil is a liar. In fact, he is the father of all lies. At any point, he seeks to distort the word of God for your life. He knows exactly the word of God and His requirements from you. But he looks for a way to cause you make a mistake. He asked Eve, “Hath God said?” And unfortunately, the woman fell for that trick. He is very subtle and tricky. He tries to remind you those things God has not done for you and questions why you have continued to serve Him in spite of these ‘short falls. The devil is a deceiver. He tempted our Lord Jesus Christ and failed. He wanted to snatch His glory. You need to understand that whatever is not contained in the word of God is the invention of the devil and is therefore not true. You must never buy it. The bible says, “Te…

THE LORD'S CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...THEME: WATCH YOUR TONGUE

Image
THE LORD'S CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL... DATE: SUNDAY NOVEMBER 13TH, 2016. TEXT: 1 Corinthians 15:33, Matthew 15:11 THEME: WATCH YOUR TONGUE MESSAGE:
"Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. " (James 3:5-6) Many people hardly weigh the consequences of their actions. It is very easy for them to open their mouths wide and let the words fly without having an inkling that the words they speak can turn around to haunt them. Today, many people's problems have arisen as a result of what they said with their mouths. Nothing passes them without attracting comments. They have said unprintable words against genuine servants of God. Some complain and murmur about the church, leaders and workers and even the pastor without …

THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL...THEME: PRAYER WILL CAUSE AFFLICTION TO BE HEALED

Image
THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL... DATE: SATURDAY NOVEMBER 12TH, 2016. TEXT: 2 CHRONICLES 7:14 THEME: PRAYER WILL CAUSE AFFLICTION TO BE HEALED
MESSAGE:
"13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing Psalms. 14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him " (James 5:13-15)
There is need for every believer to have faith in God and believe that no matter the situation he/she finds himself/herself in, God is there for them. Any believer who has not cultivated the habit of making recourse to God during tough periods cannot be said to be a true believer. Whenever tough situation comes up – sickness, poverty etc, we must seek His face through prayer because it is through prayer that we tell God our needs. It is by His power that w…
