THEME: CULTIVATE A BROKEN SPIRIT AND A CONTRITE HEART

TEXT: Psalm 51, 1Samuel 1:10

MESSAGE:
"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise." (Psalm 51:17)

One of the major reasons people fail to receive answers to their prayers is the absence of a broken spirit and a contrite heart. Put differently, their prayer does not come from within. A broken spirit is that which acknowledges its unworthiness. While a contrite heart is a repentant one. When someone's spirit is broken and the heart contrite, he has prepared a conducive environment for the Holy Spirit to come and dwell therein. During praise and worship, the heart opens up and tears of joy stroll down the cheeks. There cannot be any better spiritual condition for the Holy Spirit to come in and do His work than then. It is during such moments that the Holy Spirit receives enablement to perform assigned tasks.

Maybe you have prayed so much, yet the anointing power of God cannot touch you to remove yokes and bondages; heal you of sickness and bondage and perform tasks which you allot to it, you need a broken spirit and a contrite heart. God intends to give you a new heart (Ezekiel 36:26-27) The old-man nature is disobedient and cannot serve God in spirit and truth. So, you must yearn for that new heart – a broken spirit and a contrite heart.

Sing spirit filled song unto God and thank Him for everything He has accomplish in your life and then take the following prayer points.

Prayer Points:
1. O Lord God my Father, possess me by your Spirit; make me to be spiritual. Uproot every carnal-mindedness; make me holy and righteous, in Jesus' name.

2. Father, abide in me and I in you, that I might bear much fruit, in Jesus' name. Uproot stone-heartedness out of my life. Let your presence and power be felt in my life, in Jesus' name.

3. Any power assigned against my spiritual growth to ensure backsliding, I command you to back off by the anointing, in Jesus' name.
