THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL…

 DATE: THURSDAY, 19TH NOVEMBER 2015.

THEME: NO MAN IS ABOVE TEMPTATION.

TEXT: 1 Corinthians 10:13
[13] There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

MEMORY VERSE : For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11

MESSAGE:
As a Christian, temptation is part of Christian life. And it comes in different ways, depending on the level of your faith. The temptation the devil will bring across an established Christian might not be the same he will bring the way of a young Christian. That is, one who is new in the faith. Moreover, devil is not afraid of you, no matter the title you bear in the church - Pastor, Bishop, Prophet, Apostle, Evangelist, Elder , H. O. D, Youth leader etc. He is not afraid of you. That is why you must be careful what you do and how you live your life. If after looking at our master- Jesus - he (devil) could muster the courage to tempt Him (Matthew 4:3,6,8-9), then your own is an easy thing.

But our text for today is encouraging us. How? It said no temptation that has overtaken us that is not common to man but that God is faithful and will not allow us to be tempted beyond our power and through the temptation, He will provide a way of escape, so that we can bear it. In other words, no temptation is super or special. All temptations are common temptations that have been happening to man. And because they are common, you are expected to overcome them. That is why our text says, ... God is faithful and will not allow you to be tempted beyond your power... No temptation is beyond the power of any man if truly you will tell yourself the truth. Any man that falls into the temptation of fornication or adultery, that man made up his mind to do it. Fornication or adultery is not carried out impromptu (without plan). It takes careful planning and execution. And so, if any Christian wants to avoid fornication or adultery, he or she should not even think about it, let alone planning it. According to our text above, before any temptation comes, God has made a way of escape and you decide not to escape, who will you blame? The plan of God according to our memory verse is thoughts of good, so that you will have a good (expected) end but it is only when you are willing and obedient.

PRAYER POINTS:
¶ Pray for power to overcome temptation.

¶ Pray for sanctification of heart, so that you will not nurse evil in your heart.

AMEND YOUR WAYS: If you are not born again you must do something as a matter of urgency. He that commits sin is of the devil (1 John 3:8). If you are into lying, cheating, bitterness, keeping malice, pride, manifesting anger, quarreling, unforgiveness, hatred, envy, contention, strife, gossiping, taking or giving bribe, selfishness, kidnapping. If you are into masturbation, fornication, adultery, prostitution, abortion, lesbianism, homosexuality, you need to repent. Are you into idolatry, do you make or use charms, rituals, bow down to images, Are you into occultism? Do you smoke cigarette, cocaine, heroine? Are you lusting, covetous, alcohol drinking, divorcee or into worldliness?, you must stop bleaching your body, or painting your lips, eyes, fixing attachments, weave-on, earrings (Gen 35:2-4) Are you one of those that put on nude dresses, short skirts, transparent dresses to seduce (A seducer is not a Christian) do you wear trouser as a woman? Repent and give your life to Jesus Christ.
LET'S PRAY: If you want to give your life to JESUS pray this short prayer with me: Almighty God, I come unto you in the name of Jesus. Father I confess that I am a sinner. All my sins I confess to you. I am very sorry for all my sins. Lord I promise you that from today I will never continue in them anymore. I believe that Jesus Christ died and rose again on the third day for my justification. Almighty God, use the blood of Jesus to wash my sins away. Lord Jesus, come into my heart, be my Lord and Personal Savior. I surrender my life to you. Cancel my name from the book of death and give me grace to make Heaven. AMEN!
