TOPIC: BEWARE OF CULTISM

MESSAGE:
The word “occult” is generally associated with secret knowledge and practices dealing with the supernatural or “psychic” phenomena, often for the purpose of obtaining personal power. Occultic practices rely on demons or “spirits” to achieve their goals. Occultism is rapidly increasing throughout the world. There are now thousands of publishers of occultic books and magazines (not to mention Web sites). Interest in the occult has been promoted by the New Age movement, the rise of neo-paganism, movies and even some heavy-metal rock bands.

The occult is becoming an increasingly common component of television programs oriented towards youth. The increased exposure of witchcraft and other occultic practices is increasing the acceptance of these practices by youth as exciting, exotic alternatives to mainstream religion (particularly Christianity).

POINTS TO CONSIDER
1. THE VARIOUS FORMS OF OCCULTISM EXPLAINED AND DANGERS.
Every youth should be aware that there are so many cult groups in the campus today; cultism is a common name in our various institution of higher learning. The campus cults have his trace to the University of Ibadan with the formation of the pirates’ confraternity and in the course of time various cult groups emerged. Now here are some of the specific cults groups we must know and completely stay away from. Black axe (Neo black movement of Africa), Vikings confraternity, Buccaneers, Pirates, Mafians , Two Two, Eiye, Daughters of Jezebel etc.
Till now, there are no moral benefits of being a cultist; the dangers of cultism include:

* Danger of being expelled from the school.
* Involve in robbery maiming.
* Danger of being killed by a rival cult group.
* Giving to alcoholism, hard drugs and Constantly in fear of being arrested or killed by law enforcement officers.
* The danger of marring your future. Be a disappointment to your parents, friends, and leaders.

2. HOW YOUTHS CAN BE TRAPPED, OUR RESPONSE AND WARNING.
We must understand that the devil has many devices with which he can use to lure the gullible youth to his side and as such we must take heed not to fall prey to his devices. Understand that you as a youth is endowed with a great destiny, and must be careful not yield to the tempter’s voice. You must avoid forum’s which may expose you temptation. Below are some ways youths can be trapped into cultism.
- Enticing offer to help you get around campus, i.e., accommodation, money.
- Attending functions especially at night. Enticing you to join.
- Peer influence.
- Exorbitant life style.
- Promise to help you pass your exams with ease and become famous in campus.
- Assurance of dating the most beautiful girls on campus etc.
The warning is to run away and avoid every snare of the enemy to lure you into cultism. Cultism destroys; remember you have got a destiny ahead of you, do not allow the devil to deceive you into marring your future. So many made the mistake of joining cultism and today, they are regretting it bitterly; some did not live to tell the story. Let not your life be a lesson for others rather a challenge.
